Family Support Worker

I would like to introduce myself as your Family Support Worker, Angie Doxford. I have been employed with Flax Hill and Lark Hall Schools since September 2014, and will be based at both sites. I am here to offer support and advice to our children and their families, and here are some examples of how I can be of assistance:

  • helping our children and their parents/carers to overcome barriers to learning
  • helping and supporting our parents/carers to engage in their child’s learning
  • helping parents/carers to become involved with, and have a voice in the life of the school as well as offering support when your child joins primary or secondary school
  • helping to improve your child’s school attendance and behaviour
  • supporting parents/carers with skills and techniques to gain confidence to parent positively
  • signposting to other agencies for any financial support (having access to funding and food-bank vouchers) etc., counselling services i.e. bereavement etc., Sure Start/positive activities in the locality, employment/training (including support around benefits and completing necessary forms, housing support (housing applications, home conditions) etc.
